Elizbet was puzzled.

"Careful? Why? Whats wrong?" She had to admit though there was something different about the man the gleeman had killed.

He hrumphed loudly to himself and glanced around, "Going to Cairhien, lad? Don't. You'll be cut into so much you couldn't make sausage filler for a starved Trolloc."

"I can take care of myself," she snapped.

She glared at him, her eyes held a sort of rebellious determination. Her eyes always showed more than her face her, her father said. He used to tell her that glare could scare off half his men, made her angry enough.

Tavis huffed, "Like a Tinker you can," he was not impressed with her glare, whatever her father might have said. "And as for your pay," he returned to Timot, "You have an obligation to die then. You never have been to the Waste, boy. I know. If you had, you would not have taken this job."

He shook his head, "By the Light, what will it take to convince you this is a bad idea?"

Why did he care about these silly people? Because he felt sorry for the lad, and the lad had incurred the ire of an Aes Sedai. The girl was just plain silly, though.

Elizbet said nothing, but her eyes changed. They filled with a sort of cold anger. A look her father scared even him sometimes, it was unnerving. she didn't care weather it scared this man or not. She could take care of herself.

"What good is money if you die before you can spend it?" the gleeman said incredulously. He ignored the girl's eyes. He'd decided she was not worth saving, a spoiled pup who didn't realize what she was doing.

"Honestly, I will stalk you to Cairhien to talk you out of this! You might as well have signed on some Borderland guard to fight a Fade!"

Elizbet leaned back in her chair. Being ignored, she decided, was better than being nagged about how much more careful she could be. She surveyed the other mercenaries. The days events had created quite a stir.

Tavis hrumphed again, "I need an excuse to do a good deed, do I? Does that make sense to you, lass?" he casually passed onto Elizbet. "What is your name, fool boy," he said again to Timot. "If we're going to be traveling together, I might as well know that!"

Elizbet was about to remark back about, not getting into other peoples quarrels, but stopped, puzzled. What was this about traveling together? Those two hardly knew each other, they didn't even know each others names.
