Henry reached the site of the murder, which had by now been cleaned and the body hauled off. The ghost was there, cackling his head off. He frowned, thinking for a moment. Capturing a ghost was well nigh impossible, mostly because they could pass through any solid object. Around him, the banshees swirled, waiting on him, and occasionally hissing at the new formed ghost. The hissing made his skin crawl.

"Catch him," he said softly. "We'll make him talk." the banshees didn't live quite in the physical world, not quite in the spirit one. It was one of their peculairities and enabled them to grab the ghost and drag him before him now.

"Speak," he said sternly. "Who killed you?"
"And why would I do that, when its so much more entertaining to deny you what you want to know?"

"Don't try my patience," Henry warned.
"All will burn, all will burn in the end!" the shapeshifter said, his voice a singsong lament. "The Great Old Ones will drink of your putrid soul and drink your liquefied brains." Henry gritted his teeth. This was going to be more difficult than he thought.

Elizabeth headed towards the maniacal laughs. She could hear a hissing that made her skin crawl. She rode towards the fields where the noise was coming from. She could now see a group of...welll not really people, but things in the field. A group of those green women holding a transparent figure and...Mr. Anderson? She swallowed and froze where she stood a few yards behind him, near the road, gripping her bike with white knuckles. This was another thing he wouldn't wanted her to see. There was nowhere to hide though, nothing but an open field and as much as part of her screamed run, a larger part wouldn't let her.

"You will speak," he said icily. "You will tell me what you know of the amulet!"

"The amulet is not important, not anymore," the man said. "Nothing is important anymore. You see, I've come to my senses about a lot of things. But if you're so worried about it," he laughed.

"Maybe you should take it up with the Organization of the Ancient Grave!" and suddenly, he took up, breaking free of the hands of the banshees and flying into the air and was soon lost to view. Well. That was one clue at least. But that still left the troubling problem of what had happened to the shapeshifter. His mind had obviously broken.

Elizabeth was still frozen in place, gripping her bike handles with white knuckles and watching the group. She could hear voices, but not what was being said. Then she saw the transparent figure rise into the air and out of sight. She told herself she needed to move, to get out of here, but her legs had a mind of her own and would not move.

Henry turned and saw her, his lips twisted into a grimace. "It seems that you have a knack for following trouble," he said. "What are you doing here, Elizabeth?"

"I..." She swallowed, "I was on a bike ride, sir..." She managed, her voice as level as she could make it.

A lie of course, but a passable one. She used to ride her bike on this street sometimes, enjoying the countryside, though she had once preferred the woods.

"I doubt that very much," Henry said, eying her. "For one thing, it happens to be the middle of the night. For another, the chances that you came here, of all places, seems to me highly unlikely. Tell me, then: where exactly do you live?" he folded his arms. Somehow, he doubted that she lived relatively close.

Meanwhile, in the museum, the mummy stirred, withered fingers twitching and then toes. It kicked open the case, setting out the alarms and stiffly sat up, a low groan issuing from its throat. A security guard was there in seconds, gun raised. The mummy shambled towards him.

"What the...?" he demanded. "Get back."

"Thee...ammuulett," he moaned. "Give it back..."

"I don't know what you're talking about," the guard stammered. The mummy stumbled towards him, and a buzzing humming darkness issued from the fingers, surrounding the man. He screamed and was lost to view...

"Sir, I live over a few streets, off Oak Ridge Road."

She swallowed, nervously. She'd lost her chance to run when he'd spotted her. She cursed herself silently for sticking around.

"That's quite a distance from here," Henry said, weighing his options and considering carefully. Finally, he gestured to two of the banshees. "Take her home." he ordered. He was really going to have to see about that telepath. In the meantime, it seemed he had additional work to do. The now-insane ghost of the shapeshifter had given him a valuable clue.

***

The mummy stumbled out of the museum, stumbling as it did so, shriveled arms outstretched and dirty bandages falling and crumbling into dust. The street was deserted, but the amulet was many miles away. There was a long way to travel. Back in the museum, the guard fell to the ground, now a shriveled, dried out husk. A mummy in a uniform, mouth fixed in a silent scream.

The girl eyed the banshees nervously as they approached her. She knew Mr. Anderson would have more than just a few words for her tomorrow. For now she was exhausted and glad not to have to walk home. Her aunt and uncle still weren't home, but she didn't care. She crawled into bed and was asleep before her head hit the pillow.

Henry, in the meantime, hopped into his car and drove the distance outside of town to the country, where a ramshackle house stood. Knocking on the door, he was greeted immediately by an old woman with graying hair worn around her like a helmet.

"Well, well," she said. "If it isn't Henry Anderson. What brings you all the way out here?"

"You look as lovely as ever, Agatha," Henry said with a slight bow. "I am surprised you are not out flying tonight."

"Bah. The weather bothers my old bones," Agatha replied. "Perhaps some other night. I believe Helena and Helen are both out, though. I assume that your visit is not simply pleasure. Do come inside." Henry stooped inside the rather dingy room. It was decorated in a way that had been out of fashion for over a century. A fire with a bubbling cauldron roared in the fireplace, and a broom sat propped nearby, all necessary tools for the witchcraft Agatha performed.

"What can you tell me about the Organization of the Ancient Grave?"

***

Several ghouls observed the banshees carry the girl home, and swiftly reported. The necromancer drummed his fingers against a throne of skulls and considered. Anderson was starting to become a nuiscance. Still, he had the amulet now. He lifted it up, where it gleamed in the light. Soon, he would test its full potential. A little more research was needed to find the words of activation.

"Go capture the girl," he ordered. "Bring her here. Let's see if we can't set a trap for Anderson and his ilk." Several of the ghosts floated away, to Elizabeth's house, and through to her bedroom.

Elizabeth woke up for a glass of water to be met by several ghosts. She froze for a split second, then bolted towards the door. She knew this was bad. She had to get out of here.

"The Organization of the Ancient Grave?" Agatha asked. "A bunch of idiots and troublemakers if there ever were. They're headed by a warlock who started practicing some necromancy and became an incredibly mean-tempered man. I think they're headquartered here in Waterman Falls, but I haven't had the luck of finding 'em and running them out of town. Why do you want to know about them?"

"They're after an amulet, I believe," Henry said. "One they tried to steal from the museum yesterday afternoon. I caught a shapeshifter, and was going to interrogate him, but he was he murdered..." he proceeded to relate the rather gruesome ritualistic murder scene he had found. Agatha frowned.

"That is rather strange," she said. "It does not bode well. Another problem for me to deal with, unfortunately. It sounds like you have your work already cut out for you."

***

The ghosts whirled around her, closer and closer, howling and moaning. Then the ghouls came, gruesome creatures, dripping with ooze and made of ectoplasm. Unlike ghosts which were purely spirit, ghouls were spirits turned back into flesh. The result was repulsive, resulting in bizzare, malformed bodies and slime all around. They reached for her...

The girl screamed, but no one was around to hear it. She lashed out frantically at the ghouls, but there was nowhere to go, she was surrounded. She struggled against the ghouls hold to no avail, but did not stop trying. She had to get away, to get out of here.

Her screaming, however, was to no avail. The ghouls carried her off, blindfolded and gagged her and then tossed her in a warehouse somewhere. The necromancer observed all of this coolly and then nodded.

"Go, find Anderson and tell him we have the girl," he said. "I think he will come.'
