Tavis Quiloment juggled a series of colored balls in the common room of "The Queen's Man", an inn in the city of Caemlyn (http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv197/savepics343/Caemlynmap.png), capital of the Kingdom of Andor. He was on his way away from the war, and some obvious reasons clearly marked why.

His height and coloring marked him for Cairhienien, one of those the Aiel seemed intent on slaughtering for the travesty their king made of the most amazing gift ever granted from those who never make peace. He also was a gleeman of unusual talent, and was quiet enjoyed by the crowd. Entertainment was expensive, but he delivered in full. He also kept the assortment of mercenaries on their way toward the war from infighting, too busy were they shouting for songs, or stories, or other various amusements of which he had no lack.

He was enjoying it all anyway. He loved his work, and he loved being paid for it. He certainly had finer lodging before, but some was better than none, and he never paid for his room.

Timot observed the gleeman perform, sipping a cup of ale. He was good, but he wasn't particularly paying attention. His thoughts were elsewhere, mostly with the upcoming war. He had been recently hired to go and fight with the Carheinian troops. It wasn't a thought he was relishing. The Aiel were nasty fighters, after all. But he had been hired and he followed the money.

Elizbet Houlder sat in the corner of the common room of 'The Queen's Man'. She was watching the mercenaries and soldiers that passed through as much if not more than the entertainers. For now she watched the gleeman juggling and listened to his stories. She kept her hair cropped fairly short and in her loose tunic and britches it was easy to mistake her for a lad.

The gleeman actually felt a pang of something akin but not quite guilt for the men passing west. They were dead men. Nobody in these lands were going to match the Aiel on the field. He doubted anyone he saw here could fight an Aiel one to one. But, the Wheel Weaves as the Wheel Wills.

He finished the next story and announced that he would be taking supper now, and resume performing after he had some refreshment. He sat at a table occupied by a distracted looking man and had a plate of the best the house had to offer. He also had a mug of their best wine.

A thoroughly average showing, which meant he was in an inn of good repute. He ate with relish and refused to tell stories to anyone nearby while he ate, but was keen to listen to any talk or requests they had. He also studied the crowd. A rather mixed assortment of good men, bad men, men after money, men after death, and a girl. Of course, he doubted anyone else noticed she was a girl, but then again he doubted she'd dealt with many Cairheiniens. The Daes'Daemar demanded one be observant, especially if one was in the noble circles.

Timot glanced up as he saw the gleeman join him at the table. He nodded a greeting.

"You are talented, gleeman," he said. "One of the better I have seen. I wish that I could enjoy your performance more."

He was always blunt, and honest. He tended to say what was on his mind, and didn't necessarily practice subtlety and thoroughly despised secrets. He was actually relishing his night in the inn, it would probably be his last for quite some time against the Aiel.

Elizbet was observing the going on of the inn as usual, when a man, drunk no doubt, marched over demanding she give up her table to him and his buddies. Though thought she was a lad. She politely refused, biting back the remarks she wanted to give. He was one of the mercenaries and she was armed only with her belt knife. The men however did not like that and Elizbet saw his hand move to his sword hilt.

"Now listen here, Lad." He said his temper quickly rising, " You'll give your table to me and mine or I'll slice you up."

The gleeman rose one sharp eyebrow at the scene with the girl. He did not hear what was being said, but he could tell something unpleasant was about to happen. He flexed his long hands and considered his options.

Until the man next to him blazed up, clearly following the gleeman's eyes.

"Someone has a taste for heroics," he muttered softly. This would be ugly, but perhaps not as bad as it could have been.

Timot stood swiftly. This was not going to end well, he could tell that. He strode over to the table, with the lad - no, he thought. It was a girl. Dressed up like a boy, for some reason.

"Is there a problem here?" he asked coldly.

"This Lad won't give up his table for me and my buddies," the man said, his face was red, from drink or his temper she wasn't sure.

Elizbet held her tongue, for she was not certain she would not make a comment that would get her killed.

"And why should he give up his table for you?" Timot asked. This sort of man really grated on his nerves. He looked around for the innkeeper, with the idea of asking him to throw these men out.

Tavis motioned for the innkeeper.

"I don't approve of mercenaries fighting young men," he said with an air of detached distaste. "If you do not get rid of them, I will have to take my leave, and your crowd," he added in a pointed voice.

Whoever the heroics boy was, he was going to start a fight. Bad for business and his safety. He was too old for this sort of romp.

"Excuse me, but I believe you have a pair of drunks," Timot said. "I was getting ready to throw them out of here for you. As they are not good for business either." he stared pointedly at the gleeman.

"Generally, paying customers don't like being thrown out of their table by drunks."

The innkeeper seemed much more distressed about the gleeman's leaving than the drunks throwing the boy out, but nevertheless he complied with them. Soon, the men were ushered out by bouncers.

The gleeman returned to sipping wine and playing small tunes on his harp. Tavis did not intend to get involved in the affairs of a random suicidal merc and some girl posing as a boy. He did however feel somewhat refreshed in seeing someone with some sort of honor.

"Too bad he's going to get himself killed," he mostly mouthed to himself.

Once the drunks had been expelled by the inn keeper, Elizbet relaxed a little. For a moment she had thought she would have ended up fighting that mercenary, not that she doubt her own abilities, but he was hardened mercenary with a sword and she was armed only with her belt knife.

She looked up at the man who at the man who had stepped in.

"Thank you, sir." She said.

"You are quite welcome," Timot said. "Come, join me. Let us talk, you owe me a conversation at least!"
