She scrambled to block the fierce blows that were not of her brothers will. With those words her brother might as well have ripped her heart out. She gathered all the nerve she had left and charged forward knocking the weapon from Derek's hand and impaling him through his left side with her blade. Tears were streaming down her face as she looked into his eyes.

"I'm...sorry..." she choked, but it was all she could say.

The hilt of his sword slammed into her mouth. Nothing less than a fatal blow would kill a man bound to the Deceiver. The efforts to kill him became even more fierce, more determined. It was as if the force within him became enraged at the efforts to kill him.

Havard was far beyond helping Eleena now. There was by far too many foes to get to her, and he was getting tired.

Eleena reeled from the blow, stumbling backwards once again. She tripped and fell sprawled on her back. She defended herself the best she could as her brothers efforts to kill her seemed to double. She was helpless against the rain of blows that descended upon her. Her sword was wrenched from her hand and she stared up at Derek thinking that he would surely kill her.

Derek's arms raised the sword to bring down into Eleena's heart, when Havard hurled an axe he picked up at the white tunic. The blade bit into the possessed man's thigh, causing him to stumble over to one side.

Havard himself suffered the bite of a Thrall's axe for his momentary distraction, and fell backwards.

Eleena leapt to her feet, grabbing her blade as she charged forward. She impaled him once again, though the chest. Tears streaming and a look o unfathomable pain on her face. She stared into his eyes once again, sobbing.

"I'm sorry, derek...." she managed to whisper "I'm sorry..."

Derek smiled at her just briefly, then his eyes blanked out and he died.

Havard managed to fight his way out from a pile of dead and dying, and the wave that had pursued them and the group that had met them finally were all gone.

Oleg, himself, and Eleena were three of about ten survivors of their little group. But... they still had the arm.

Eleena's knees collapsed beneath her and she buried her face in Derek's tunic, sobbing. Anyone else and she would've been fine, but Derek was all she had. He was her only family and she'd killed him...

The battle was over. They had a small band of survivors and the arm,but Eleena couldn't seem to register completely what had just happened.

Havard walked over to Oleg, "So, my good Dwarf, what does this victory seem like to you?" the grizzled berserk leaned on his claymore atop a hill of gore.

It was a nightmare, the Deceiver's armies were wrought with the bodies of their comrades, undead and possessed. Worse yet, it looked as if the Watcher had come, as a large force appeared beyond the horizon from the West.

Rabican's army was sandwiched between the two Fallen Lords.

Eleena just sat there sobbing into the tunic of her lifeless sibling. He'd been her reason for everything. He was family, he was all the family she had. And she'd killed him. She'd spent all winter hoping, praying she would see him again. Well, she'd gotten her wish hadn't she?

"I'm sorry.....I'm sorry", It was all she could bring herself to say.

She was in shock, her mind had not fully registered what had just happened. All over a stupid arm.

Ten Motion stared at the battalion before them. Five men, plus a dazed an addled Alric, against sixty of the enemy, plus a Shade. They were dead men. All of them.

Suddenly, then, the previously nonsensical Alric suddenly found lucidity. "Let me handle this," he broke from the group and walked toward the enemy, a frightening certainty to him.

He looked at the Shade and nodded in recognition, "Ah, Sinis, I thought you died when the Shrine of Nyx was collapsed upon you."

The unholy, echoing voice of the Shade replied acidly, "Indeed Alric, I'll wager you'd thought you'd seen the last of me."

"I have seen the last of you."

"Pyrrhic," the dwarf grunted.

The berserk nodded at the Dwarf. From their vantage point, they could see Rabican's forces surrounded by both the Deceiver and the Watcher's armies, and the rising water from the volcanic eruption melting the ice drowned plenty. They'd driven the Fallen back to the mountains, but now they were losing an army.

"At least the Watcher and the Deceiver might kill each other," he muttered darkly.

Eleena pulled a necklace from her brother and placed it around her own neck, hidden by her tunic. She'd made it for him when he left, so that he'd remember her. She wiped her face with the sleeve of her tunic. She couldn't let the others see her crying like this. What would they think? It took the girl a moment to regain her composure, but when she had she went in search of Oleg and Havard.

"One can dream, can't they?" the dwarf said. He then stumped off to check on his explosives. Supplies were running a bit short.

Havard picked up the remaining packs and directed those of them left to move further from the conflict and the volcano. Once all was said and done, they'd find the other survivors. Murgen's army was probably moving in to try and save Rabican, but he had a feeling that the most powerful of the Nine was doomed, sandwiched between the Deceiver and the Watcher, a place no man would like.

Ten Motion watched in abject horror as the Shade raised a small green orb and began to cast a spell, but then Alric waved his hand and knocked it from his grip, then unleashed his own spell on the Shade's small army. Chunks of bodies flew up into the air, as if exploded from within by hidden bombs that even Dwarves would envy. Then the seemingly addled Avatara and the decaying Shade clashed blades. Even the Berserks with them, and Ten Motion himself, one of the Old Heron Guard, stood in awe in how the man handled a sword. While not the oldest, wisest, most powerful or best general among the Nine, all present just felt that in this man, the Fallen may have met their match.
