Kara stood slowly.

"So what now?," she asked looking at zedd.

The Wizard looked at Lexino, the boy seemed... awkward.

"You're handling people being melted better than some," Zedd said encouragingly. Hopefully, the boy wouldn't start retching on them now. Then he looked over toward the town they were walking to, "Well... This is a bad sign. This was little more than a scouting party, and they had a spell on them... I'm worried about the town."

The Wizard looked at the two of them and considered just leaving. Kara was disgraced and Lexino was just a random guy...

No. Kara would tell D'Haran where to find him. Lexino was no longer able to hide. He'd come out of his woods, and even if he went back, he'd find himself attacked soon enough. He couldn't just turn them loose, but he couldn't just... He had to do what he had to do.

"We're going to move for town, now. Quickly. No time for threats of magic or an arrow, we're going to move. Come on, you two."

Zedd practically ran. He was running when he saw the columns of smoke in the distance.

Kara didn't know why she followed zedd, but she did. Perhaps she had some of hope of finding her sisters, wherever the D'harans were. She was sprinting behind him when she saw the columns of smoke in the distance. This didn't look good at all, not for those towns people at least.

"What are those columns of smoke?" Lexino asked, jogging to keep up with the wizard.

"Slaughter," he muttered and sped up. When he got there, his fears were confirmed. The walls were rent, and looked melted in places. Only one thing he knew was hot enough to melt stone like this.

Wizard's Fire.

As he sprinted into the city, he saw all the hallmarks of massacre. Raped women and girls lay where they had been murdered, piles of dead children were on every corner it seemed. Every man in town had died defending their town from the invaders, none has survived.

The D'Haran corpses were all moved away, they were superstitious people. They'd taken their dead with them. But this...

Zedd cried out in frustration and anger.

The Confessor!

He didn't find her body among the fallen. Perhaps she had gotten away! He had to find her!

Without looking back at the two again, Zedd took off, looking for a long-haired woman in a black dress.

Lexino looked around at the corpses and couldn't help himself. He retched.

Kara walked through into the town just in front and to the right of lexino. She nearly laughed when he retched at the horribly sight.

"Get used to it," she scoffed,"you'll see plenty worse."

Her eyes scanned the dead. She saw zedd sprint through the town and sped up slightly. She walked cautiously, looking for the any unlikely survivors.

Zedd couldn't find the Confessor, which meant she wasn't dead, but she was no longer here...

Frustration and relief mingled, but he slammed his fist into a wall and his hand broke. His face twisted into an ugly scowl, "Bags!" he spat and looked around.

"I swear on my honor as a wizard!" he declared loudly. "I swear that when I meet the wizard who used his gift in such a dishonorable, vile way, I will flay him alive! I will tear him apart, while keeping him alive to see what I am doing! And only when he's suffered a sliver of what these people suffered, will I let the Keeper take his damned soul from this world!" his voice reverberated through the charred remains of the town and the land beyond it.

If the other wizard was anywhere near here, he knew Zedd was after him now.

Kara rounded the corner as the wizards voice reverberated through the town. She did not want to be in front of him right now. Everyone had their limits and she thought he just might have reached his. If he turned and saw her, she'd be a prime target for that anger and frustration. She froze. She realized she had not seen a confessor among the dead, which ment she was out there somewhere. While it was good news to zedd, not so much to Kara.

Lexino shook his head, listening to the Wizard yell. Nothing was solved. He looked around in disgust at the bodies and the ruined town. It was...pointless. Incredibly pointless. People killing one another for no particular reason.

Zedd stormed through the city, buildings cracked and metal melted in his passing. He was indeed the eye of a storm that hid from the naked eye. Anyone caught in his way, anyone who tried to stop him, they would die.

He was disgusted at the callous disregard for human life Panis Rahl encouraged in his men, he was disgusted that a wizard would stand for such a man, and most of all he was disgusted that a wizard would partake so intimately with such things.

He pointed a thin finger at Lexino and Cara, "You two, find something to fight with. We're finding who did this, and we are keeping them from doing it again."

Kara was not going to argue with zedd. Not when he was this angry. This could work to her advantage, if they found this other wizard and the men fighting with him, then she could get away. If this played out right she may even deliver the wizard to Lord Rahl after all. She slung a man's crossbow across her back and picked up another man's sword. Then followed zedd quickly. He was actually very intimidating when he was this angry.

Zedd grabbed a uniform that was lying on the ground and tossed it at Kara.

"Put this on. You're going to flush them out when we find them."

The wizard's voice commanded no comment. You would do it, the voice said, or you would die. No second chances. Zedd was now the 'wind of death' as he was called.

By both sides.

Kara only paused for a second. She then did as she was told.
She sheathed the sword and slung the crossbow across her back. She normally wouldn't have listened to zedd, but any moron could tell he'd kill any man who didn't do as he said. No she'd listen for now, then she'd find a way to twist this to her advantage.

"Where to?" She asked.

"Lexino," Zedd asked, his voice still all swords and fire, "Can you track where these murderers went?" his eyes darted around for something that might help. He wanted to gauge what he was about to destroy.
