There was a quick and loud rap on the door and 2nd lieutenant Elizabeth Christmas Mustang waited impatiently for an answer. She had been instructed to deliver these documents to the Furher immediately. She sighed, he would not be thrilled to see her.

The girl was in her early twenties, wearing the standard military uniform she looked strikingly like Colonel Riza Mustang, but with raven hair and Roy's eyes. The only thing out of slightly out of place on her was the temporary henna tattoos just barely visible under her sleeves. Transmutation circles, done in a long-lasting, but temporary fashion for quick access. Old habits die hard for a former State Alchemist.

The Fuhrer's eyes narrowed slightly when he saw the messenger. But he showed now outward display of any particular emotion.

"Lieutenant," he nodded and took the documents from her. Then he looked up and gave a bit of a grin, "I think I'm going to reassign you to Captain Elric. Major Armstrong will brief you and him on the situation. Inform your CO of the transfer immediately."

Elizabeth saw the slight movement, but didn't let it bother her. She still had a difficult time reading him, even after 20 years. She spared a quick glance at Colonel Riza before she answered.

"Yes, Fuhrer." She replied with the obligatory salute.

Her mother gave her father a slight look, which only those who had known them for years could only guess the meaning of, but then nodded to her daughter. Her father returned the salute, then dismissed the assembled.

Armstrong walked over to the girl, "Lieutenant, I regret to inform you that these are matters of great importance. Let us find the Captain so that I may brief you on the terrible things transpiring around us."

Daniel turned around to see the girl enter. Her addition to this seemed very...sudden, all she had done was walk into the room.

Elizabeth nodded, " Of course, Major, lead the way."

Alphonse shook his head, "His own daughter," as he walked next to Daniel, towards his guest quarters.

Captain Elric looked a little bit bemused at it all. "So I get assigned the Fuhrer's kid and have to go up to Briggs to guard some Alchemists do some snooping? What did I do to deserve that? How's it going, Holiday?" he gave her a knowing smile. They had seen each other a bit growing up, due to their parents relationship.

"Don't push your luck just cus you're a captain, pipsqueak. Roy's just trying to get to me."

She almost never called him Dad, not since she was little.

He's still not happy with me." she replied, with a wry smile. He was one of the few people she wold joke with, especially on duty.

The Fuhrer's daughter! Suddenly, this made sense to him. He followed them out of the room, adjusting his hat as he did so. Sticking his hands in his pockets, he mused to himself.

What was Mustang doing, playing favorites like this? Unless his daughter really was that good and deserved to come along. Well, he'd be the judge of that...

"It's Captain Pipsqueak on duty, Lieutenant," he laughed. "Of course he's trying to get to you, you knew he'd never forgive you for going into this line of work." He shook his head, "Not that my dad was overly thrilled when I joined up either." He looked over to Daniel.

"So you'd be the Alchemist I'm supposed to cover for? You and my uncle? I hope you're just that good, then."

"Hmm?" Daniel said, coming out of his own thoughts. "Oh yes, I'm very good. The best. First time doing anything important for the government. Something exciting at last - been kind of dull in Central as of late."

"The best, eh?" he smiled mischievously. "We'll see about that. I grew up with the best."

"I suppose we will," Daniel said with a small smile.

The Major cleared his throat, "I will go ready for the trip to Briggs. I hear my Aunt Olivia Armstrong is still general there now, even at her age!"

The Captain sighed. "Great, I have to report to her? Holiday, I'm not forgiving your father for this punishment."

"Is something wrong?" Daniel asked blankly. "What's so bad about her?"
