Elizabeth sat as far away on the bus from Mr. Anderson as she could. The girl was bewildered and nervous as to what her teacher was thinking now. What would he do about what she had seen? She looked out the window the rest of the ride, trying to calm her racing mind and heart.

Once back at school, the day was essentially over. Henry dismissed the class for the day. Except for the girl.

"Elizabeth," he called. "I would like to speak with you for a moment. If you would come over here, please?"

The man cackled something about "Mommy kissing Yog Sothoth" as he skipped gleefully down a random street and into a museum in Waterman Falls. It was a delightful place, no one seemed to talk to him or try to approach him. In fact, several of the inhabitants avoided sunlight entirely. He had dumped a vat of glitter on one of them, just to see what would happen. The dejected banishment from the family later made him even more happy than the deed itself.

Suddenly millions (yes, millions) of dreadful thoughts and nightmares flooded his mind, and all he could do was smile stupidly, enjoying the moment. Then he came across something that made him curious, and followed the trail (that wasn't actually a trail at all). Eventually, he found himself striding through a flock of Banshees. The misty women wailed at him, and he sang along with them, skipping around and trying to dance with them. Their shock at this was only rivaled by their dismay when he stole their charge, and let him go quite easily.

Why did he do this? He was bored.

Elizabeth had seen this coming. She gulped and took a deep breath then walked towards him slowly as the other students dispersed. She would just have to see what happened.

"Sir?" She said, barely managing to speak at all.

"Who are you? What do you want?" the shapeshifter cried. Somehow this man creeped him out thoroughly, to the point that he'd rather have been back with the banshees. He seemed completely out of his mind, judging by the way he was singing Christmas carols with the words twisted. "Let me go!"

The man laughed a high-pitched, creepy laugh and an animal look came into his eyes. He pulled a book out of his clothes from somewhere. It was a rather large book, and he caressed it fondly as he eyed the shapeshifter.

"You know what this is, friend? Nobody ever believes me, but this is IT!" his tone changed to something fierce and somber, threatening on the last word, then his demeanor returned to playful cackling. "I just need a little sacrifice for me to work a spell from the Necronomicon!" he practically sang the name of the accursed book.

"Don't worry, it'll be tons of fun!"

"No!" the shapeshifter cried. "Wait! I can tell you things! Anything you want to know - the amulet, who I work for, anything! Just don't kill me! Plleeassee!"

The whimpers and pleas fell on uncaring ears. He started singing "I'm Dreaming of a Dead City" (as opposed to a White Christmas), and tied down the shapeshifter, set up candles, and took a wicked looking knife. He made a few cuts into the shapeshifter's midsection, drawing odd looking symbols and using the knife to draw blood to draw others. He looked something akin to a grandmother making cookies for her grandkids while he did it, an oddly benevolent smile and caring touch. Which made it all the more creepy.

Then his singing changed to chanting, and he began saying terrible things in some demented language, imploring that Cthulhu impart his blessing on Waterman Falls. This... was... bad.

For everyone but him.

"I think we need to talk, Elizabeth," Henry said. "You saw something that shouldn't have. Now what are we going to do about that?" At that moment, a banshee floated through the room, whispering things that couldn't quite be understood. A strange expression passed over Henry's face.

"Oh dear God," he said. "Someone took him. Elizabeth, we'll have to continue this discussion later on. For now, do not talk about what you have seen today. At all." he sprinted out of the room as fast as he could, towards the exit.

The knife came down, and the shapeshifter's life was over. His soul, however, was property of the Old Ones now. The tortured expression on his face as he died filled the man with glee. He squealed, jumped into the air, pranced around, and generally acted like an excited five year old.

Then he skipped off, stashing his evil cult stuff in his clothes, how it all fit and how it never got damaged a mystery to even him.

All the while, he sang this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptP0OR-e7rI&feature=related

Elizabeth gulped as he began their little chat, but it was soon interrupted by a women with green skin floating in to whisper something to Henry. He then said something about somone taking somone and ran off telling her not to talk about what she'd seen today. As soon as he was gone she grabbed her things and rushed home, it was a very long walk and by the time she reached the door her leg was killing her. She'd missed the bus, however and didn't mind walking. Usually she'd have had a ride, or her bike, but she'd been dropped off today. Her aunt and uncle were working, as usual. she didn't see them often, except when she was in the hospital. They basically lived at their jobs.

Elizabeth immediately went to her room and practically fell onto the bed. What was she going to do? Normally she would've have gone for a walk in the woods to clear her mind. But after the attack, he uncle ordered her to stay out of the woods until they could be sure whatever had attacked her was gone. Not that after the ordeal an evening walk in the woods was the least bit appealing.

She sighed and tried to clear her head, but her thoughts were still racing.

Henry reached the site of the crime a few minutes and found the shapeshifter dead, killed in a rather gruesome manner. His lips tightened as he examined the body. It looked like some sort of ritual.

But why would he kill him? What reasoning could be behind this? He swore under his breath. That was the only lead he had the amulet, really. Now he was back to square one. Plus, now he had another problem.

Elizabeth sighed, she needed some fresh air. If she couldn't walk in the woods, she could at least take a stroll outdoors. She rose from the bed and took some painkillers for her leg before pulling her jacket back on and walking aimlessly down the street.

Meanwhile, about thirty miles away, in the Natural History museum, a figure cloaked in shadow and revealing one delicate hand disarmed the alarm system and then opened the box, and removed the amulet carefully and casually. Then, mission accomplished, slipped back into the night. That annoying man with telekinesis was not going to interfere this time around.

Meanwhile, from the body of the shapeshifter, a pale transparent figure slowly rose from it and floated away. As it did so, it began to laugh long, loud and hysterically, activating every car alarm for miles on end. Henry snapped awake from his sleep. The shapeshifter was back, as a ghost. It was time to investigate.

Elizabeth snapped awake from where she'd fallen asleep at her desk. She could hear car alarms in the distance, it seemed like all the car alarms for a 5 mile radius were going off. She grabbed her her coat and slipped on her boots, rushing outside to check what was going. Something wasn't right. She grabbed her bike from where it leaned against the house and pedaled as hard as her bad leg allowed, wincing, but too curious to care. Though, she had a bad feeling about this. Was this another thing she should not see? She'd deal with that later, for now she wanted to know what in the world was going on.
